Dokra brass turtle figurine with red Diwali gift box and satin bow, by Kalavan

Every Diwali, the same question comes up: what do you gift that people will actually keep? Sweets get eaten and dry fruits get shared, but a handcrafted piece of tribal art stays on the shelf for years and starts conversations.

Here are gift ideas from Kalavan's Diwali Gifts collection, grouped by budget. Each piece is made by artisan families from Jharkhand and Odisha. Shopping with a bigger budget? See our Diwali gifting guide for ₹3,000 and ₹5,000.

Under ₹500: small gifts with big meaning

Dokra Brass Turtle with Gift Box (₹499). A 4-inch brass turtle that comes in a red gift box with a satin bow, so there is no wrapping to arrange. In many Indian homes the turtle stands for longevity and good fortune, which makes it a natural Diwali gift.
Dokra Elephant (₹329) and Dokra Horse (₹339). Small brass figurines that suit a desk, a shelf, or a puja room.
Sohrai mini frames (from ₹499). Framed folk paintings from Jharkhand, inspired by the harvest wall art painted by village women.

₹500 to ₹1,000: a little more special

Dokra Reindeer (₹559). A handcrafted brass piece that works for festive gifting.
Dokra Peacock Figurine (₹699). A detailed figurine with an antique golden finish, a good choice for housewarmings and offices.
Hand-carved Red Stone Lakshmi Idol, 3 inch (₹999). A compact puja murti for a home temple, made for Diwali.

Why handcrafted?

Dokra is one of India's oldest metal-casting traditions, made by the lost-wax method. Every figurine is shaped by hand, so no two pieces are exactly alike. When you buy a piece, you support the artisan families who keep these crafts alive.
